Hex game rules
The game of Hex is a board game with very simple rules.
Board and pieces
It is played on a diamond-shaped board with hexagonal squares, with 11 squares on each side.
The four sides of the board are marked in white and black respectively, two by two on opposite sides.
Each of the two players facing each other has white or black pieces respectively, which they must place on the board.
Movements
On their turn, each player places a token of their color on any free square of the board.
The objective is to make a row of chips of the same color that join the two opposite ends of that color.
Color swap
Making the first move can give a big advantage in the game.
Therefore, on the first turn, after Black's first move, the player who starts with White stones has the option of placing one of their pieces (in which case they will play with White for the entire game), or swap colors, owning the placed black stone and leaving white stones for the opponent for the rest of the game.
Endgame
The game is won by the first player to make a chain of their colored pieces that connects the corresponding sides of the board.
