Mahjong is a Chinese game played with 144 tiles. The most popular variant is the offered in Ludoteka to play Mahjong online, although it is quite different from the original game.

At the beginning of the game, the tiles are placed according to some of the possible layouts; some tiles are mounted on top of some others, creating several layers of tiles. The tiles are drawn in pairs. Tiles can only be drawn they do not have any part of its surface covered by another tile above it, and provided that it has at least one of its sides free without any other tile next to it.

In addition to the usual dragon layout, Ludoteka offers new and different layouts to multiply the possible combinations to create different Mahjong games online.

The 144 tiles are divided into 36 quartes. The tiles in each quartet are exactly the same, except in these cases:

To extract the tiles, you simply have to click on each of the two tiles of the pair you want to remove.

The goal in Mahjong is to take out pairs of tiles until the board is empty.
If this is not achieved, the number of tiles released will be counted, and if there is a tie, the time spent will be taken into account.

Whenever you play a rated solitaire game in Ludoteka, you are competing against other players. Up to 25 different players will play the same game, during a maximum period of two days. For more information see the solitaire games.
