There are two variants in mus: mus with 4 kings and mus with 8 kings. Concerning to the rules, the two variants are very similar; however, this changes imply great differences in the strategies. When playing mus with 4 kings, all cards keep their own value:
- The threes are really threes
- The twoes are really twoes
However, when playing mus with 8 kings this two rules are used:
- in mus with 8 kings, the four threes of the pack work always like kings; as a result, the pack has 8 kings
- in mus with 8 kings, the four twos of the pack work always like aces; as a result, the pack has 8 aces
This card combination makes clear the difference between the two variants:

Playing with 4 kings is not possible to bet on pairs; however, playing with 8 kings, this a very good combination of duples made with two kings and two aces. You have more information in the mus, 4 kings rules page.
